Author, How it Happens, Nomadic Press 2018 Mistress of Peace Promotion. Currently practicing Yoga and Qi Gong while writing, reading or sleeping. Fresh air needed at all times. Camera at the ready. I work with writers to help them shape, bring clarity to and focus their work. I teach skills and strategies that are helpful for all writing genres, creative, academic, business, etc. I write poetry, fiction, essays and am a former freelance book and film critic and English language arts curriculum writer. I've been an Artist in Residence with the California Arts Council and have been awarded residencies at Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Vermont Studio Center, Hedgebrook, and the Writers on Site Program of Poets and Writers, Inc. sponsored by the James Irvine Foundation.

  1. Hope your reading went well Joyce! Thanks for inviting me (it was a little too far to go from British Columbia, though a visit to Berkeley is certainly appealing!).

    • Thanks, Silk! It was a great deal of fun reading with such diverse voices and interesting folks. About 20 years ago I was in a writing group with Rusty Morrison, and it was interesting to hear the focus and form her writing is now taking. It’s always an adventure to read to an audience and I enjoy it immensely, but it’s also nice to have the gift of listening to other writers and to be able to go along for the ride on the heels of their words. Afterwards, I got to catch up with old friends who came to hear us. All in all a really pleasant evening.
